Day 3 Buenos Aires, Argentina

Depart: 16:00

Enjoy a day at leisure in Buenos Aires before your ship departs this afternoon.

Founded in the early 16th century, Buenos Aires was transformed from a colonial port into a cosmopolitan metropolis - the "Paris of the South" - by the cattle boom of the 1880s. With its air of haunted grandeur, Buenos Aires is a place of icy intellect and smouldering passion. It is a city where the elegant Colon Theater, one of the world's great opera houses, stands in counterpoint to the working class barrios that gave birth to the tango. Perhaps the city's enigmas and contradictions are best embodied by its two most famous citizens - the reclusive librarian and literary genius Jorge Luis Borges and the showgirl turned First Lady, Evita Peron.

The "Paris of the South" flaunts its European heritage. One of the pleasures of Buenos Aires is simply absorbing its charm and flavor, from Parisian-style confiterias - cafés - to the city's popular tango clubs.

Day 7 Punta Arenas, Chile

Arrive: 07:00 - Depart: 18:00
(Water Shuttle Required, Wheelchair Access Limited)

Punta Arenas lies atop rolling hills, looking out over the Strait of Magellan. In the days before the Panama Canal, this was a major port as ships plied the waters of Cape Horn. Punta Arenas remains a prosperous town today, thanks to its rich natural resources. The city is also the gateway to Chilean Patagonia, a maze of fjords, rivers, steppes, and mountains to the north. To the south lies the great frozen mass of Antarctica. Adventure awaits in any direction at this port located near the end of the earth.

Across the Strait of Magellan lies Tierra del Fuego, the lonely, windswept island discovered by Magellan in 1520. The region was settled by Yugoslavian and English sheep ranchers in the 19th century.

Please note: This port is accessed by tender boats. Boarding and disembarking tender boats may involve steps and uneven surfaces. While cruise lines strive to provide ease of access, accessibility options can vary at different tender ports. Passengers with mobility concerns are encouraged to inquire about specific arrangements and consider their individual needs when participating in tendering activities.

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 8 Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego), Argentina

Arrive: 12:00 - Depart: 20:00

Magellan called it Tierra del Fuego, "the Land of Fire," having seen flames rising from the darkened islands. For over three centuries, the name struck fear in the hearts of mariners. Howling headwinds, mountainous seas and rocky coastlines spelled a sudden end to many voyages. Today, Ushuaia, a former Argentine penal colony, serves as your gateway to this wilderness where snow-capped mountains plummet to the icy waters of the Beagle Channel.

Overnight: Princess Cruises' Sapphire Princess

Meals included: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 9 Cruising

Enjoy a day at sea as you cruise through the world's southernmost seas to the frozen continent.

The ship will cross the infamous Drake Passage, named after the English sea captain and privateer Sir Francis Drake who discovered it by chance in 1578.

Day 10 Antarctic Peninsula (scenic cruising)

The most isolated continent on earth, this rugged landscape is some 1,300 kilometres long. Its shores are comprised of unusually sculpted icebergs, blue-tinged glaciers, majestic mountain peaks and a steep ice shelf.

Though the peninsula is covered in icy tundra, it actually features the mildest climate in Antarctica, the perfect environment for hosting the only flowering plants on the entire continent, Antarctic Hair Grass and Antarctic Pearlwort. In addition, the icy waters surrounding the peninsula cater to various species of seals, penguins and seabirds, including the Cape Pigeon, the American Sheathbill and the Antarctic Tern.

Enjoy your scenic cruise in this remote area of the world - it's a breathtaking wonderland nestled in nature's frosty embrace.

Day 15 Stanley, Falkland Islands

Arrive: 07:00 - Depart: 18:30
(Water Shuttle Required, Wheelchair Access Limited)

Capital of the Falklands since 1845, tiny Stanley lies on the windswept tip of East Falkland Island. The Falklands long served as a way station for ships, particularly whalers, bound to and from Cape Horn. The islands' rigorous environment is immediately apparent: Stanley Harbour is dotted with the hulks of vessels that succumbed to the fierce winds and waves of the South Atlantic. Travellers increasingly journey to the islands to view their rich assortment of bird and marine life.

Colourful houses occupy the low rolling moorland bordering Stanley Harbour. Stanley's climate resembles London's - cool and rainy though summer visitors are often blessed with clear, sunny skies.

Please note: This port is accessed by tender boats. Boarding and disembarking tender boats may involve steps and uneven surfaces. While cruise lines strive to provide ease of access, accessibility options can vary at different tender ports. Please note: If entry to a site is affected by changes in operating hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary, where possible, may be adjusted, or a similar activity will be offered in its place (subject to availability).

Shopping:
Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved. If paying by credit card, please pay close attention to the amount you are being charged and keep all your receipts.
Do not make any purchases you are not comfortable with or feel pressured into. If you are uncertain or need assistance with the language barrier, please seek assistance from your Tour Guide/Leader.
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions regarding shopping for further information.

Visas

Argentina
On an Australian passport, you can stay for up to 90 days without a visa, but you'll need evidence that you intend to depart the country within the 90 days, for example:
• a return or onward ticket
• a valid passport
• travel/medical insurance
Officials may also ask for proof of accommodation and evidence that you have enough money or a credit card to cover your trip.

Chile
Australian passport holders visiting Chile for tourism purposes must apply for a single or multiple tourist visas. Visas must be lodged through the SAC CIUDADANOS https://tramites.minrel.gov.cl/ portal only.
If your travel includes transiting through Chile, you should contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Chile to confirm if you'll need a visa.
If you transit in Chile without a visa and miss your connecting flight, you won’t be able to pass the immigration point. You'll be required to remain airside and not leave the airport until a new onward flight has been arranged. Australians have previously been required to remain airside for several days due to missed flight connections.

Uruguay
Australian passport holders are visa exempt for a stay of up to 90 days. The traveller must hold a passport valid at least 6 months beyond the period of intended stay with one blank visa page.

Important:
• Please start arranging your visa three weeks before departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours.
• Visa rules are subject to change. Please check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination/s you are visiting once you receive your travel documentation to ensure you have the most up to date information.
• It is your responsibility to be travel-ready and ensure that you are aware and comply with any destination or travel requirements, including the validity of all required travel documents.
• Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.
• It is also important to note that some areas of employment, such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations, may have additional restrictions in applying for visas. This may, in turn, affect the type of application required.

Travel insurance

Embarking on your next trip is exciting, and while you hope the unexpected does not happen, it is best to be prepared. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance when making your booking. Whether it’s a potential medical emergency, a flight cancellation, a delayed suitcase, or an unforeseen event, it's important to ensure you're adequately protected.
