With Spain to the north and Morocco to the south, Gibraltar is the famous promontory dominating the narrow entrance to the Mediterranean.

In ancient times Gibraltar was regarded as one of the two Pillars of Hercules, marking the western limits of the known world. Then, as a prelude to the Moorish conquest of Spain in 711, Gibraltar was seized and used as a stronghold base. This Moorish influence has permeated much of Spain, even the name Gibraltar, converted to Spanish from the Arabic 'Jebel Tariq', or Tariq's Mountain, was named after the Moorish commander Tariq ibn Ziyad who built the first fortification.

Commonly known as 'The Rock,' Gibraltar is full of natural caves and manmade tunnels composed of limestone and grey marble, is geographically part of the Iberian Peninsula. Set off the southeastern coast of France and separated from Sardinia by the Strait of Bonifacio, the rugged island was fought over for much of its millennia-long history; a particularly contentious period of Genoese rule led to a short-lived independent state before it became a French territory in 1769. Corsica was an infamous haven for smugglers and pirates; indeed, bands of brigands were still roving there as late as the last century. Today, the island shows its wild side in its jagged mountains, steep gorges, and forests of native Corsican pine. The town of Bonifacio is a medieval beauty and particularly striking to behold from the sea, with its imposing citadel precariously perched atop the white limestone cliffs. Look for the legendary Staircase of The King of Aragon cut directly into the rock face; if physically able, climb the 189 steps for spellbinding, 180-degree views. Bonifacio’s cobblestone streets and piazzas are abuzz with craft shops, bars and brasseries, while fine-sand beaches and hidden pirate coves are plentiful.

Despite its small size, the island of Elba has been known since the beginning of recorded history. Called Ilva by the Ligurians and Aethalia by the Greeks, Elba passed to the Etruscans and later the Romans. It was ruled by Pisa in the Middle Ages and was a haven for Barbary pirates in the 16th century before being privately owned by the powerful Medici family.

The island's most famous resident was Napoleon Bonaparte, whose first exile from France and short reign over Elba lasted from May 1814 to February 1815. During that time, Napoleon was able to improve the island by altering street plans, building new roads, modernizing agriculture and developing the iron mines. Iron ore is still mined above the Rio Marina and then shipped from Portoferraio (Port of Iron).

With a population of just over 11,000, Portoferraio town is the largest on the island and is considered its capital. Elba is known among geologists and gem stone collectors as a treasure trove, with over 150 minerals and semiprecious stones found here. Botanists, too are impressed with the rich soil and an astonishing range of foliage and flowers aided by sun that shines almost every day of the year. The island is largely agricultural with a quiet ambience to enjoy Elba's natural charm, peaceful abundance and timeless beauty.

Despite its small size, the island of Elba has been known since the beginning of recorded history. Called Ilva by the Ligurians and Aethalia by the Greeks, Elba passed to the Etruscans and later the Romans. The island's most famous resident was Napoleon Bonaparte, whose first exile from France and short reign over Elba lasted from May 1814 to February 1815. TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide: 
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group. 

Tour Leader: 
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined. 

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. 

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
Miami 
In May, Miami experiences warm and pleasant weather with temperatures ranging from around 24°C to 30°C. The humidity is relatively high, and there is a chance of occasional rain showers or thunderstorms. It’s a great time to enjoy outdoor activities and the city's vibrant atmosphere before the peak summer heat arrives.

Mediterranean 
In April and May, the Mediterranean region enjoys mild to warm weather, ideal for travel. In Portugal, temperatures range from 13°C to 20°C in April and 15°C to 22°C in May. Spain sees similar conditions, with temperatures between 12°C and 21°C in April and rising to 15°C to 25°C in May. Southern France experiences temperatures from 12°C to 20°C in April and 15°C to 23°C in May. Italy enjoys slightly warmer weather, with April temperatures between 13°C and 22°C and May ranging from 16°C to 25°C. Greece offers a pleasant climate as well, with April temperatures ranging from 12°C to 22°C and May from 16°C to 26°C. Croatia also experiences mild weather, with temperatures from 11°C to 20°C in April and 14°C to 23°C in May. Overall, the weather is typically mild and increasingly warm as the months progress, making it a great time to explore the region.

FLIGHTS
Seat Selection & Frequent Flyer Points:
We do not arrange seat selection. It is essential to highlight that some airlines do not allow pre-selected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the airline directly with seating allocation requirements and/or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. While we do not add frequent flyer member details to bookings, you can do this directly with the airline once you have your flight information.

Passport Validity:
Customers must provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase or no later than 45 days before the departure date. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of the booking. Customers will be responsible for any costs and fees incurred in this instance.

Embarkation / Disembarkation:

Meals:
For meals not included, the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. It is your responsibility to notify us of any dietary requests/requirements. Please note: We will do our best to meet your requests/requirements; however, we cannot guarantee that we will always be able to.

Luggage:
You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on tour. You must carry your own luggage from the vehicle to the hotel room and back to the vehicle. The driver will assist with the uploading and unloading of bags from the vehicle.

Fitness Level Required:
A Leisurely level of fitness will be required.

Yellow Fever:

Shopping: 
Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved. If paying by credit card, please pay close attention to the amount you are being charged and keep all your receipts. 
Do not make any purchases you are not comfortable with or feel pressured into. If you are uncertain or need assistance with the language barrier, please seek assistance from your Tour Guide/Leader.

In the event the tour package you have purchased is unable to proceed, and/or a travel Supplier is unable to fulfil the tour due to external circumstances (Limitation of Liability e.g. a Force Majeure event), there may be a fee or amount of money that is withheld by our Suppliers and is unrecoverable. This may be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. If refunds are not available from Suppliers, we will endeavour to obtain a travel credit on the best terms available and communicate these outcomes to you. In the event we are unable to obtain a refund or travel service credit, or part thereof, this cost is passed on to the customer as a Supplier Fee.
