Other important information

SAUDI ARABIA
Local Laws & Customs
Saudi Arabia welcomes tourists but before travelling, be sure to check your own country’s travel advisory for detailed information. Saudi Arabia’s judicial system is based on Islamic law (Shari'ah), which may differ from what travellers are used to in their own countries. Here are some important guidelines regarding Saudi Arabia's laws and social norms:
• It is illegal to preach or publicly practice a religion other than Islam.
• Avoid questioning religious values or public morals.
• Do not criticize the country, its royal family or practice religion in public, including on social media.
• Dress modestly in public.*
• Alcohol is prohibited in Saudi Arabia.

Please note:
• *Travellers should be aware of the socially conservative dress code in Saudi Arabia. While it is no longer a legal requirement for women to cover their hair and wear an abaya (long-sleeved robe), women should still dress modestly in public, especially when visiting places of worship. This includes covering shoulders, chest, knees and wearing loose-fitting dresses or pants. Given the hot climate in Saudi Arabia, it is advisable to pack lightweight clothing such as cotton and linen to stay comfortable while exploring during the day.
• When visiting the Holy City of Medina and when entering mosques, abaya and hair cover are a must.

TOURISM/CITY TAXES
• Kazakhstan: $12 USD total per person, payable upon check-in.
Please note: Pricing is approximate and subject to change.

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.
Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
Egypt
• February - March: As Spring gets underway the temperatures rise, but the day-to-day weather is rarely excessively hot. The daytime temperature typically reaches a high of 25°C around mid-March, though the average is a degree or two higher than that towards the end of the month.
• May: the tourist season is in full swing in Cairo and the weather is already very warm. The average temperature reaches a high of 32°C during the day and at night only dips to a low of around 18°C.
• June, July or August: The hot summer weather intensifies further in June and July, with an average daytime maximum temperature of 37°C, and an average minimum temperature of 22°C. Temperatures rarely fluctuate by more than a few degrees on either side of the long-term average. You can expect no rain during this month and there are 13 hours of sunlight each day on average.
• September or October: Temperatures begin to cool off a little during September though the daily weather is still hot. The daytime temperature reaches an average maximum of 35°C, and the temperature falls to an average minimum between 26 and 27°C overnight. October is slightly cooler than the preceding months but remains hot. The average temperature still reaches a high of 30°C during the day and dips no lower than 18°C at night.

Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is surprisingly vast, however with most of the country being a desert-like plateau, weather conditions are usually fairly stable. The main climate differences can be felt between the coastal areas and the interiors. In most of the country, summers are hot and dry; winters are mild, on the other hand, with temperatures dropping at night, and rain can be expected at this time.
• The best time to visit Saudi Arabia is generally during the cooler months from November to February when the weather is mild enough to comfortably explore the outdoor attractions and cultural landmarks. February is a nice time to visit Jeddah, with temperatures gradually rising by the day. The highest daily temperature is around 29°C, but can exceed 32°C. On average the daily sits at 23°C, while the lowest daily temperature is 17°C.
• Saudi Arabia doesn’t have much of a spring, but what passes for this transitional season rolls by all too quickly between March and April. Temperatures rise sharply over the two months, hitting the mid-30s by the end of the season.
• From May onwards, temperatures soar from around 30°C and peak at around 45°C in August. There is very little rainfall to cool things down, but thankfully, there isn’t too much humidity, either.
• From mid-September, the weather begins to cool off, but relief from the intense desert heat only comes in October when daily averages drop to around 26 degrees Celsius. The rainfall that sometimes occurs during this period also helps take the edge off.

Türkiye
From February to May, Türkiye's weather is mild with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C. In June, temperatures range from 19°C to 29°C, making it ideal for exploring ancient ruins and bustling bazaars. July and August are the hottest months, with temperatures soaring between 22°C and 32°C, perfect for beach holidays and vibrant nightlife. As September sets in, the temperatures cool down to a comfortable 19°C to 29°C, offering an excellent opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities and cultural excursions.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Tashkent features a Mediterranean climate with strong continental climate influences. As a result, Tashkent experiences cold and often snowy winters not typically associated with most Mediterranean climates and long, hot and dry summers. The city experiences two peaks of precipitation in the early winter and spring. The slightly unusual precipitation pattern is partially due to its 500m altitude. Summers are long in Tashkent, usually lasting from May to September. Tashkent can be extremely hot during July and August. The city also sees very little precipitation during the summer, particularly from June through September. In February-March temperatures range from -1°C to 9°C. Minimum temperatures are cold.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
The capital Bishkek is located in the north, in the valley of the river Chuy, at an altitude ranging between 650 and 950m. Here the climate is continental, with cold winters and hot summers, in which the days can be scorching, often around 35-36°C, but with dry air and lively breezes in the afternoon. Precipitation is moderate, the annual total being around 450mm, with a summer minimum (when only rare showers occur to interrupt the sunny days), and a maximum in spring, between February and May.

Almaty, Kazakhstan
Almaty is situated in a mountainous area which has an influence on the climate in this city. Almaty has a warm continental climate with more rainfall than the rest of the country. Especially in spring and early summer months, there is a lot more rain. Summers are pleasant and make it a perfect time to visit. The winters are soft and pleasant. most precipitation will be snow. During May, June, July, August and September you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures. October will be slightly cooler. Almaty records an average high temperature of a still icy 2.2°C in February. Almaty's temperature lowers to a mean of -6.9°C during the nights in February.
